A Person that I Admire (?)

A Person that I Admire (?).

Honestly, I don´t have a person that I really admire in my field, but I respect a few people (basically all of ICEI´s teachers). But there is one in particular, that I hate in terms of teaching. That person is María Olivia Mönckeberg, a.k.a M.O.M.

Like all of us know, she is a teacher here, but also is the director of the journalism institute. She has the journalist degree since 1973 and, since there, she also has written a few books, where the highlights are “El saqueo de los grupos económicos al Estado chileno” and “Los magnates de la prensa”, that are keystones in the journalism in this university. She talks about Agustín Edwards (all of them), and SQM topic, that she investigate since about 1975.

She is awesome in terms of investigation, and also has worked in magazines against the Pinochet´s dictature, and founded other things, being always an important member.

Like I said in the begin, I don´t really “admire” her, I don´t like her very much, but I respect her a lot, because she is the prototipe for a journalist. Is like a love/hate relationship.

My Pet (Again)

My Pet (Again)

I don´t clearly know which animal is my favorite. Could be dogs, because of their loyalty, hamsters, because I have one (and many through the years), or maybe raccoons, because they are too adorable … but hard to care. So, I think that I will talk about my hamster (again), that doesn´t have a name, so I call it “Pekeño”. Yes, without the Q and neither the U.

He is with me since his born, like 21st or 22nd of July of 2016. We just found him inside the little house that his parents had in the cage, so, I am not very sure about his birthday.
When he grew up, I notice the physical similarities with his parents. He has the hair of his mother, and the size and eyes of his father, with their deep way of looking. He also is a bit like me, quiet, plump and loves to stay in home … and also with a disheveled hair.

Unfortunately, his “childhood” (as we speak) wasn´t very good. I remember one day, I don´t remember the date, that he looks like he was extremely stressed, tired, and too weak to continue. That because his dad was very aggressive with him, and beat him up sometimes. Pekeño only run away. In that “weak” moment, I leave him with his mom, because “maternal instinct”, meanwhile, I cleaned his cage and left him food. Sadly, she also hit him, and (like he was extremely weak) I freak out and shout her.
I thought that he was not capable to survive… but here he is.

Another of his stories, but this is more like a happy story, is about his name. Like you know, his name is “Pekeño”, but his last name, or more like his nickname, is Houdini. Why? Because one day, we were in the living room, my fathers and me, and we listen a noise from his cage. All three of us saw him trying to escape, but in a very particular way. With his nose he lifted the padlock that locks (obviously) the floor of the cage. After that he pushes all the tin floor with his body, and escape. That leave us very amazed, and like 'in shock', because of his intelligence.

Pekeño is my friend, a little, plump and cute friend. He always is running in his wheel, looking at me probably asking “Why don´t you give me all the food of that jar!?”

Story of a Photo

Story of a Photo

Well, this picture is very descriptive on its own. It was taken by me, around the 10th day of December of the last year. It is a little sort of grave where Eddie, my hamster, is resting. The grave is in a flower pot, on my window.

Eddie was one my first pets that I really care about (because the others that I have were when I was a little kid), and he stay with me in a bad time of my life. Well, he and Amy, his “Girlfriend”, and Phil, their son. Even the hamster that I wrote about a few posts before this is from the same “family”. They made me laugh a lot, and I loved them very much … even today.

I like that photo mainly because of two reasons. First, and most important, because is in honor of him, that I, like I said before, loved. And second, this was one of my first photos that I take with a “real” camera, one of ICEI´s camera, and, since there, I like the photography very much.

Favorite Dish

Do You smell what The Rock is cooking?

One of the coolest things about being home alone, is that I can cook whatever I want, usually with my girl, listening to music, dancing and singing maybe, enjoying the moment. I love my house, so, I enjoy it that much. Despite that I am not a very good chef (my mom is who usually cook), I prefer cooking instead of other homeworks (like clean), so I´m fine with that. To be honest, I love to cook!, and my favourite dish is (epic voice) “Spaghetti with Sausage”. It doesn´t sound very well in english, but taste very well in spanish xD, and with lettuce salad, is the perfect lunch for me.
Sometimes I add a bit of sauce to make it more tasty, or some grated cheese, it also works.
Also, cooking in your house with friends is great, even if they usually cook instead of you xD

P.S: the title is a reference to wrestling, which I love… it´s a catchphrase (for strange that it sounds)

Technological Object

Technological Object:
My favourite technological object is, or rather they are, the musical instruments (I think), because through them, we can express ourselves in the way that We want. I like them for that, and because of the freedom of the feelings, that is the most personal and free 'thing' that We have, specially at the time of expressing ourselves, since the language is very limited. I am not a musician, but I have a guitar, and I play it everytime that I feel stressed, tired or 'weak', because the rest of the time i do homeworks, or play videogames. It heals a lot.
She arrive to my house at my 15th birthday and, since then, she never has fail accompaning me.
Life would be horrible without music, over all without my guitar, because she always has been a very good friend, the most loyal.
I think that the music is an universal and clean taste, and the instruments are the 'way' by which take body... so, I think that they are my favorite technological object :).

Poor Little Jimmy :c

Jimmy on a Desert Island.
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful cruise. In the cruise was traveling a guy called Jimmy O’Tool. Unexpectedly, in a middle of a travel to Spain, the Cruise had an accident: they crushed on a submarine rock and Timmy was stucked on a desert island, without water and food. He was 3 days stucked there. Bored and hungry, he thought to himself “Ah, men, I gotta do anything for a Taco”. Then, he noticed a bottle, floating on the sea. He took it and checked his content: there wasn’t any drink, there was a message! Timmy was a bit confused, but then he felt happy too! With a bit of difficult, Timmy took the message from the bottle and, by the design, he spected that the message was from a Mexican Restaurant. Timmy readed the message and felt the happiness: “Free Tacos!”
“Free Tacos”! Timmy was very happy! Somewhere, a Taco is already waiting for him! Sadly, when he was celebrating, he noticed a small print, under the big one. “Just for today”. After reading it, Timmy cried out: “Oww, Men! My only opportunity to get a Taco!! Why they are giving free tacos when I can’t go out from here!!”
Poor Timmy :(
