A Person that I Admire (?).
Honestly, I don´t have a person that I really admire in my field, but I
respect a few people (basically all of ICEI´s teachers). But there is one in
particular, that I hate in terms of teaching. That person is María Olivia
Mönckeberg, a.k.a M.O.M.
Like all of us know, she is a teacher here, but also is the director of
the journalism institute. She has the journalist degree since 1973 and, since
there, she also has written a few books, where the highlights are “El saqueo de
los grupos económicos al Estado chileno” and “Los magnates de la prensa”, that
are keystones in the journalism in this university. She talks about Agustín
Edwards (all of them), and SQM topic, that she investigate since about 1975.
She is awesome in terms of investigation, and also has worked in
magazines against the Pinochet´s dictature, and founded other things, being
always an important member.
Like I said in the begin, I don´t really “admire” her, I don´t like her
very much, but I respect her a lot, because she is the prototipe for a
journalist. Is like a love/hate relationship.
